Employee offboarding checklist: close every door in one click

Good offboarding protects your business and respects the person leaving. Bad offboarding leaves working logins behind. Here is a checklist you can use today.
Before the last day
- Confirm the last working day in HR.
- Plan handover: open tasks, projects, customers and files.
- Reassign ownership of projects and recurring work.
- Settle leave balances and final dues with finance.
- Collect company devices, cards and keys.
On the last day
- Remove access to every business app.
- Remove access to email and shared drives.
- Change any shared passwords the person knew.
- Update the employee status in HR.
- Record what was removed and when.
After they leave
- Check the activity log for any sign in after the last day.
- Confirm handover items were received.
- Hold a short exit conversation and note feedback.
Why access removal is the step that fails
Most items on the list are one off tasks. Access removal is different: it repeats for every tool the person used, and it is easy to miss one. A single forgotten login is all it takes.
Close every door in one click
When every app uses one identity, offboarding access becomes one action. In efiqone, switching a person off blocks their login and every connected app stops trusting their session within a minute, and the action is recorded in the activity log.
